    Comparison of Executive Functions in Addicted Young People who Referred to Addiction Treatment Camps with Students Ardebill

    Background and aim of the study: The present study compares the executive functions between pre-university male students and young addicted people who referred to addiction treatment camps.Method: The study is a causal-comparative study. The sample of study consisted of two groups of 25 male students and young addicted people who referred to addiction treatment camps of Ardebill city in 2014-2015, with coordination of sex, education and public health factors. Data was collected through researcher general health questionnaire for primary screening, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, Stroop Color Word Test and the Wechsler Digit Span subscale. Data were analyzed by multivariate variance analysis. Findings of the study: data analysis indicated that there is a significant difference between the executive functions of young addicted people who are in addiction treatment camps and healthy students.Conclusion: According to the gathered results, it\u27s likely that in addicts young, existence of neuropsychological anomalies such as weakness in executive function of response inhibition, Set shifting and updating of working memory, resulting in their weak performance compared to normal peers in the executive functions

    A Modified Super-Efficiency in the Range Directional Model

    The range directional model (RDM) relaxes the assumption of non-negativity of inputs and outputs in the conventional data envelopment analysis (DEA) with the aim of evaluating the efficiency of a decision-making unit (DMU) when some data are negative. Although the concept of super-efficiency in the RDM contributes to enhancing discriminatory power, the formulated model may lead to the infeasibility problem for some efficient DMUs. In this paper, we modify the super-efficiency RDM (SRDM) model to overcome the infeasibility problem occurring in such cases. Our method leads to a complete ranking of the DMUs with negative data for yielding valuable insights that aid decision makers to better understand the findings from a performance evaluation process. The contribution of this paper is fivefold: (1) we detect the source of infeasibility problems of SRDM in the presence of negative data, (2) the proposed model in this study yields the SRDM measures regardless of feasibility or infeasibility of the model, (3) when feasibility occurs, the modified SRDM model results in the scores that are the same as the original model, (4) we differentiate the efficient units to improve discriminatory power in SRDM, and (5) we provide two numerical examples to elucidate the details of the proposed method

    Isolation of rapid growing mycobacteria from soil and water in Iran

    A total of 350 soil samples were collected from different part of Uremia city and suburbs. We used 3% sodium lauryl sulfate and 1% NaOH for decontamination of soil samples. Of 350 samples, mycobacteria were isolated from 65 (18.3%) specimens. Mycobacterium fortuitum with 18(5.14) strains yielded the highest frequency of isolation. The other isolates were: Mycobacterium peregrinum 11(3.14%), Mycobacterium flvescens 10 (2.85%), Mycobacterium chelonae 6 (1.71%), Mycobacterium mucogenicum 6(1.71%), Mycobacterium thermoresistable 4(1.14%), Mycobacterium abscessus 3 (0.85%), Mycobacterium neoaurum 2(0.57%), Mycobacterium smegmatis 2 (0.57%) and M. fortuitum third biovalant complex 3 (0.85%). The mean pH of soil was 7.89 ± 0.379 (max 8.5, min 7.5). Our data showed an abundant occurrence of mycobacteria in low pH (P value = 0001). We also collected 120 water samples from rivers, brooks and drinking water. Water samples decontaminated were by adding cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) to give final concentration of 0.05%. Mycobacteria isolated from 12 water samples. The predominant isolated species were M. fortuitum and Mycobacterium cheloni. The majorityisolates were from brooks and surface waters

    Numerical modelling for nanoparticle thermal migration with effects of shape of particles and magnetic field inside a porous enclosure

    Computational modelling for nanoparticle migration inside a permeable space has been reported. Impacts of shape factor and radiation were included in the mathematical model. CVFEM was employed to analyse magnetic force impact. Impacts of magnetic radiative parameters, buoyancy forces and nanoparticle shape on nanomaterial behaviour were demonstrated. Utilizing the Darcy model helps us to predict the behaviour of porous media. Outputs revealed higher convective mode can be achieved with augmenting buoyancy force while opposite outcome appears when magnetic field is imposed. Thermal plume vanishes with the rise of conductive mode which is gained as Hartmann increases

    Higher-order approximation of cubic–quintic duffing model

    We apply an Artificial Parameter Lindstedt-Poincaré Method (APL-PM) to find improved approximate solutions for strongly nonlinear Duffing oscillators with cubic–quintic nonlinear restoring force. This approach yields simple linear algebraic equations instead of nonlinear algebraic equations without analytical solution which makes it a unique solution. It is demonstrated that this method works very well for the whole range of parameters in the case of the cubic-quintic oscillator, and excellent agreement of the approximate frequencies with the exact one has been observed and discussed. Moreover, it is not limited to the small parameter such as in the classical perturbation method. Interestingly, This study revealed that the relative error percentage in the second-order approximate analytical period is less than 0.042% for the whole parameter values. In addition, we compared this analytical solution with the Newton– Harmonic Balancing Approach. Results indicate that this technique is very effective and convenient for solving conservative truly nonlinear oscillatory systems. Utter simplicity of the solution procedure confirms that this method can be easily extended to other kinds of nonlinear evolution equations

    Iron Status in Febrile Seizure: A Case-Control Study

    ObjectiveData on the relationship between iron deficiency anemia and febrile convulsions are controversial. The aim of this study was to determine the association between iron deficiency anemia and febrile convulsions among children.Materials & MethodsThis case-control study was conducted during 2006-2007, on 90 children with febrile seizures (case) and 90 febrile children without seizures (control) referred to the Amirkola children hospital (a referral hospital in the north of Iran). Two groups were matched for age and sex. In all children hemoglobin (Hb) level, hematocrit (Hct), mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and plasma ferritin (PF) were determined and the data collected were analyzed statistically using the t-test.ResultsThe mean PF and TIBC levels were not significantly different in the febrile seizure compared to the reference group; neither were differences in Hb levels statistically significant between two groups. However MCV and MCH were significantly higher in the febrile seizure group (pConclusionPlasma ferritin levels were not significantly lower in children with febrile seizures in comparison with the children in control group. It seems that iron insufficiency does not play a role in pediatric febrile seizures.

    Distribution, infection, diagnosis, and control of avibacterium paragallinarum in poultry

    Avibacterium paragallinarum is widely distributed all over the world in poultry farms. The purpose of this review was to describe IC disease in chickens caused by A. paragallinarum in terms of incidence, pathogenicity, diagnosis, and management. The disease is characterized by upper respiratory affection that is represented by conjunctivitis, sinusitis, facial and wattle edema, growth retardation, a marked drop in egg production, and a high morbidity rate. Complications with other bacterial and viral infections and environmental stressors increase the severity of the clinical signs, lesions, and mortality rate. For serological evaluation of the bacterium, there were two schemes. Page scheme classified the bacterium into serovars A, B, and C, whereas Kume scheme divided it into serogroups I, II, and III. Page serovars were further classified and associated with the Kume serogroup. There are 9 A. paragallinarum serovars of Kume scheme represented as A-1, A-2, A-3, A-4, B-1, C-1, C-2, C-3, and C-4. Laboratory diagnosis of A. paragallinarum is based on conventional methods of isolation and identification as well as serotyping and molecular detection. Strict biosecurity measures are important for the prevention of such infections. However, inactivated polyvalent bacterins are widely used to prevent the possibility of infection. The lack of crossprotection among serovars is the major challenge in the vaccination program

    Numerical study of periodic magnetic field effect on 3D natural convection of MWCNT-water/nanofluid with consideration of aggregation

    In this paper, a numerical study is performed to investigate the effect of a periodic magnetic field on three-dimensional free convection of MWCNT (Mutli-Walled Carbone Nanotubes)-water/nanofluid. Time-dependent governing equations are solved using the finite volume method under unsteady magnetic field oriented in the x-direction for various Hartmann numbers, oscillation periods, and nanoparticle volume fractions. The aggregation effect is considered in the evaluation of the MWCNT-water/nanofluid thermophysical properties. It is found that oscillation period, the magnitude of the magnetic field, and adding nanoparticles have an important effect on heat transfer, temperature field, and flow structure. © 2019 by the authors
